AI is often misunderstood. Some fear it’s taking over jobs, while others see it as a shortcut that dilutes quality or equals ‘cheating’.

However, AI is a tool meant to enhance our capabilities, not diminish them.

I use AI daily, not to replace creativity but to streamline and refine the processes that allow my business to grow.

AI in Education and Business
Recently, I had an enlightening conversation about AI’s role in education, which mirrors its function in business.

For example, when my daughter faced challenges in writing her college essays, we discussed how AI may be a tool that she could use to explore various writing styles and approaches—not to cheat or write it for her, but to inspire and enhance her natural abilities.

This approach is similar in business; we use AI to refine our messaging and ensure clarity and impact in our communications.

AI for Efficiency and Personalization
AI excels in areas where repetitive tasks drain our time and creativity.

From automating scheduling to sorting through data for insights, AI allows us to focus on what truly matters: innovation and personal engagement with clients.

For instance, we use AI to transform raw transcripts into organized, actionable content that’s easy for our audience to consume.

AI and Content Creation

Think about the social media content creation process. AI has dramatically shifted how quickly we can produce high-quality, engaging posts.

By automating the initial drafts, our team can focus on customizing and personalizing content, ensuring it aligns with our brand voice and meets our audience’s needs.

The Ethical Use of AI

Using AI responsibly is key to leveraging its benefits. It’s not about replacing human touch; it’s about augmenting our capabilities to offer better services and products.

I have noticed a lot of business owners out there talking about how they can create a body of work using AI (in 5 minutes of course). So I will say that in my opinion, when you use it as a tool,  AI should not plagiarize or dilute the authenticity of our work.

We can use AI to generate ideas and formats, which we then infuse with our expertise and creativity.

AI is not a replacement for our expertise. It’s a powerful tool that, when used ethically and creatively, can transform how we operate and grow our businesses.

It’s about using technology to our advantage, to enhance—not replace—the unique value we bring to our clients.

5 Steps to Getting Started with AI in Your Online Business

1. Identify Repetitive Tasks: Start by identifying tasks that are repetitive and time-consuming. These could include customer inquiries, scheduling, or data entry. Automating these tasks with AI can free up time for more strategic activities.

2. Choose the Right AI Tools: Not all AI tools are created equal. It’s important to choose tools that integrate well with your current systems and are scalable as your business grows. Look for AI solutions that offer the specific functionalities you need, such as chatbots, AI-driven analytics, or content generation tools.

3. Implement Gradually: Introduce AI to your business gradually. Start with one or two processes where AI can have an immediate impact. This allows you to measure the effectiveness of AI and make adjustments before rolling it out more broadly.

4. Train Your Team: Ensure your team is well-trained on how to use AI tools effectively. Understanding the capabilities and limitations of AI will help your team integrate AI into their daily activities more smoothly. At the end of the day, you are still responsible for the content you produce. 

5. Monitor and Adjust: Continuously monitor the performance of AI implementations. Collect feedback from your team and customers to understand how well the AI tools are meeting their needs. Use this feedback to tweak your AI strategies and improve their effectiveness.
