Welcome to today’s episode of the Course Building Secrets® Podcast. We had the pleasure of chatting with Ash Wylder, the founder of Story Breath School. Ash was able to transform a 1:1 business into a coaching school, that helps individuals express their creativity through writing without intimidation. Let’s dive into the conversation and explore how Ash is revolutionizing the world of writing.
The Story Breath School
Ash introduced Story Breath School, a place where people of all backgrounds can explore their writing abilities in a non-intimidating environment. The school offers enticing activities and mythopoetic exercises aimed at breaking down the academic barriers often associated with writing.
“So there’s kind of all of this pressure that’s there. The Story Breath School exists to tear down those boundaries and give people access to this kind of support in a way that doesn’t feel so intimidating,” Ash explains.
Who is it For?
Ash built the Story Breath School to cater to different levels of writers and create a place where she can teach and connect with her customers. Her program has 3 levels which allows her to serve a wider audience.
Level One: Ideal for individuals searching for their voice. Whether you’re neurodivergent, highly sensitive, or simply lacked the opportunity to experiment with language in school, the courses at this level help you find a writing style that resonates with you.
Level Two: This is for those who have found their voice and want to hone their craft, learning essential writing strategies and grammar to express their stories clearly and concisely.
Level Three: Targeted at aspiring authors who dream of taking their writing to the next level. This level offers one-on-one coaching to help you achieve your writing goals.
Writing Strategies For Finding Your Voice
One of the challenges many writers face is articulating their stories in a way that feels authentic. Ash shares this sentiment, mentioning how even experienced professionals struggle with storytelling.
“For a while, I was working with a woman who specializes in flower essences read through an astrology lens. Our goal was to distill her complex business into something understandable and consumable,” says Ash. This is a quintessential example of the kind of transformative work happening at the Story Breath School.
The Importance of a Clear Customer Journey
Ash emphasizes the necessity of mapping out a clear customer journey. This involves identifying the different stages individuals go through in their writing process and providing tailored support at each level.
“My customer journey is really clear. People know where they can plug in, get support, and what the next steps can look like,” Ash notes. This clarity helps students find the right resources and support at every stage of their writing journey and allows her to deliver a consistent and scalable solution instead of working with her clients one-on-one.
Building a Business Without Social Media
For those of you who struggle with social media marketing, one of the most intriguing parts of our conversation was Ash’s approach to business development without relying heavily on social media. Instead, Ash focuses on authentic connections, word-of-mouth, podcasts, and strategic use of email lists.
“It might take a little bit longer, but for me, it feels really good to know that my list is resilient enough to not rely on social media,” Ash explains.
Final Thoughts
Our conversation with Ash Wylder of Story Breath School sheds light on the transformative power of using an online program to teach writing strategies to many levels with authenticity and creativity. By building her business in this way, Ash is helping writers of all levels find their voices and tell their stories.
